This assessment is not a training course.
This assessment booking is only suitable for candidates who are ready for their competency assessment.
The sponsor or individual will need to supply supporting evidence in support of your application and SHALL include:
- Training Records
- Basic First Aid Certificate
- Copy of existing and previous authorisation certification
PPE & Equipment
Delegates to bring all tools, safety and test equipment to carry out the live working tasks list in the course content + the following PPE:
- Industrial gloves,
- Steel toe capped shoes or boots,
- Flame retardant overalls,
- Light eye protection,
- Live working rubber gloves + leather outer protectors,
- Full face visor.
- Change of trainers or shoes for use in lecture rooms and breakout areas.
Initial discussion with assessor on previous experience, jointing systems used and assessment criteria. Practical assessment on the following tasks;
LV cable jointing based around
Low Voltage SWA Terminations and Straight Joints
Followed by a written examination paper.

In compliance with the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, no person shall be engaged in any work activity where technical knowledge and experience is necessary to prevent danger or where appropriate, injury, unless he possesses such knowledge and experience, or is under such degree of supervision as may be appropriate having regard to the nature of the work.
In accordance with the Health and Safety series booklet HS(R)25 – “Memorandum of Guidance on the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989”, the question of technical knowledge or experience necessitates:-
(a) adequate knowledge of electricity;
(b) adequate experience of electrical work;
(c) adequate understanding of the System to be worked on and practical experience of that class of System;
(d) understanding of the hazards which may arise during the work and the precautions which need to be taken, and
(e) ability to recognise at all times whether it is safe for work to continue.
Experienced LV jointers requiring practical assessment for LV service cable jointing as part of the authorisation process, to enable them to work on your sponsor network
Candidates shall be issued with a Jointing Competency Assessment Report (JCAR) for range of joints and cable types to be worked on.
The JCAR shall include
confirmation of attendance and duration
the candidate pass or fail
